Meet the Dietitians

Linda R. McLachlan, MA, RD, CDN  [download Linda's Bio]
Linda is the founder and director of Nutrition Matters, LLC. She has an Associates degree in Business Management, a Bachelors Degree in Dietetics and a Masters degree in Nutrition Education. She is certified in Adult Weight Management by the American Dietetics Association. She has been involved in research on metabolic syndrome and diabetes. She has shared her talents with the community on numerous occasions lecturing on Women's Health, Prevention and Treatment of Osteoporosis, and Healthy Eating for Children to name a few.

Her experiences through the years vary from Director of a hospital Foodservice Department, Clinical Dietitian, and Nutrition Education Consultant for many fortune 500 companies. She was the 2004 Speaker for the NJ State Association of Occupational Health Nurses Annual Meeting. Linda was a key member of the design and implementation of Sodexho’s exclusive wellness program. For many years, Linda was a certified instructor with the National Restaurant Association teaching their Serve Safe certification program throughout New York and New Jersey. 

She has written articles for several different health and wellness websites and is a regular contributor to Fitness magazine online, DietingPlans.com and RestaurantEdge.com. Additionally, Linda has responded to on-line chats in the “Chat with a Dietitian” section of dietingplans.com.

Her extensive background in food, nutrition and finance blends well with Linda’s passion for coaching individuals to make healthy lifestyle changes.

 

Carrie J. Kelly, RD [download Carrie’s Bio]
Carrie earned a Bachelors Degree in Fashion Merchandising and a Bachelors degree in Nutrition. She also completed various post-graduate courses in clinical nutrition. Carrie is certified in Adult Weight Management by the American Dietetics Association.

Carrie has 4 years experience working in production and design for a top fashion design company in NYC, the fashion capital of the world. After leaving the fashion industry to pursue her passions in nutrition, she successfully worked as a WIC Dietitian responsible for working with pregnant and lactating women, infants and children providing nutrition assessments, anemia screenings, and nutrition counseling.  After working with WIC, Carrie continued to excel in developing and implementing nutrition education programs for kids and parents as a Program Associate with Rutgers Cooperative Extension.  She has also organized and participated in various company Health Fairs throughout RI, NJ and NY. Through continued education, Carrie maintains her expertise in pediatrics and adult weight management as well as nutrition education design and development.

In addition to Carrie’s success as a nutrition educator, she demonstrates excellent culinary skills and meal planning, always with a passionate focus on nutritionally scrumptious food! She has mastered juggling a busy lifestyle and is an avid runner competing regularly in local 5K and 10K events.  Once you meet Carrie, you will see that her enthusiasm is contagious!

 

Beth A. Lanzisera, RD [download Beth’s Bio]
Manager of Clinical Services
Beth has completed a Bachelors Degree in Nutrition/Dietetics and has attended continuing education coursework in stress and disease, obesity and women's health. In addition to being a Registered Dietitian, Beth is also a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant and Massage Therapist. She is also certified by the American Dietetic Association in Adult Weight Management and holds a certification as a Weight Trainer.  
 
Beth has been involved with and conducted further research on the link between diabetes and heart disease; food intake patterns of 7-13 year olds; Gastric Bypass current treatments and protocols, nutrition diagnoses, phytochemicals, metabolic syndrome, and diabetes.  She specializes in cardiovascular disease, diabetes, weight management and corporate wellness. 
 
She has shared her talents with the community on several occasions including presentations to the Girl Scouts and high school track teams.  She has also presented numerous peer inservices on a variety of health related issues.  

Assuming the position of ‘coach’, Beth guides her clients to make lasting changes in their lives, which, in turn, leads to decreased health risks and a better quality of life.  Beth believes in a lifetime approach to wellness and incorporates a holistic approach with her clients.  When you meet Beth, you will see she is a top-notch individual, even receiving an award for saving someone’s life.

 

Marti Austin, RD, CDN [download Marti’s Bio]
Marti earned a Bachelors degree in both Business and Dietetics, and is completing a Masters degree in Nutrition Education. She has also earned her Certification by the American Dietetic Association in Adult Weight Management.

Marti has extensive experience in the corporate world as a successful business executive. She worked as a top Buyer for a major retail corporation responsible for planning and directing numerous corporate programs and meetings.

She eventually left the corporate world to pursue her passions in the field of nutrition. Marti has since traveled to Shanghai, China where she spent six weeks in an education program learning about Chinese nutrition, diet and culture. She has experience counseling clients who have undergone gastric bypass surgery. She maintains her specialization in weight management through ongoing continued education.

Marti’s multi-discipline education and years of experience in corporate marketing and management combine well with her knowledge of nutrition, wellness and exercise. She leads by example, always with a passion to live life to the fullest! When you meet Marti, you will see that she has proven herself as a well qualified professional with the skills necessary to facilitate and accomplish successful programs.

 

Sahar S. Berjis, RD, MPH, CDN [download Sahar's Bio]
Sahar has a Bachelors Degree in Dietetics and a Masters in Public Health. She has been involved in the development and implementation of many health education materials some of which focus on wellness, adolescent and adult obesity, women’s health, alternative healing and failure to thrive. She has shared her talents with the community on numerous occasions lecturing at New York University on healthy eating tips along with numerous talks on healthy snacking for kids, wellness and correlation between diet and disease.

Through the years she has worked as a consultant with various profit and the non profit organizations. She has worked as a registered dietitian with the homeless population of New York City and conducted in-service trainings to both clinical and non-clinical staff. Being bi-lingual in Spanish and English, she has worked as a registered dietitian with LA Weight loss, overseeing all weight & nutritional issues in North, Central and South America. She was one of the first dietitians who traveled with Montefiore Hospital to help Katrina victims in Mississippi. She has also volunteered with a Non-Government Organization in Ecuador providing health care for the underserved population.

She was the guest speaker in 2004 for the NJ Certified Renal Nutrition conference. Her work was published in the August 2005 American Dietetic Association Journal. She has done poster presentations for the 2005 Food & Nutrition Conference Exposition & Health Care for Homeless conference.

 

Nancy J. Cooper, RD [download Nancy's Bio]
Nancy earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology-Anthropology-Sociology, then completed the program and internship required to become a Registered Dietitian. She began her career in Dietetics as a Clinical Dietitian in a community hospital in Philadelphia advancing to become the Clinical Nutrition Manager. The hospital experience provided a foundation in medical nutrition, but Nancy found that she really enjoyed the community and counseling aspects of dietetics.

She went on to work for five years at The Renfrew Center, a well-known and highly respected eating disorders facility. Nancy found that this experience, meshing both interests in psychology and nutrition, is a challenging and rewarding environment. She has also created and conducted weight loss programs for children and adults, and worked extensively with Bariatric patients in an outpatient hospital setting. She has provided community outreach for senior centers, Girl Scouts and mall walker groups as well.

Nancy derives a lot of satisfaction from helping people to eat more nutritiously and healthfully, and is comfortable in the role of nutrition counselor. She enjoys working out and tries to practice what she preaches by enjoying food in moderation and balancing that with exercise.

 

Sabrina Lombardi, RD, CNSD [download Sabrina's Bio]
Sabrina has completed a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics. She is also a Board Certified Nutrition Support Dietitian. Working in the acute care setting has provided her with a vast variety of experiences. She has been responsible for managing nutrition care for those with cardiac diseases, diabetes, and kidney disease. She has also had experience working with a multidisciplinary team to provide nutrition to those with critical illnesses.

Sabrina continues to regularly update her skills by attending continuing education programs in Medical Nutrition Therapy, exercise and nutrition, and evidence-based practice.

She likes to share her passion for lifestyle changes to promote disease prevention and weight management. At the same time she strives to create lifestyle changes that fit both cultural and medical needs. She is always looking to try new foods that will help create a balanced but varied menu.

 

Debra Grossano MS,RD,CDN,CDE [download Debra's Bio]
Debra has a Bachelors degree in Exercise Science and Sports Studies and a Masters degree in Clinical Nutrition. She is a Certified Diabetes Educator by the National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators. She worked in corporate fitness for 3 years providing clients with personal training. During her masters program for nutrition, she completed a rigorous internship in NYC. As a dietitian she has worked in several different hospitals and has 5 years experience as a nutrition counselor in a private practice setting. She counsels clients for a wide variety of concerns including weight loss, high cholesterol, hypertension, Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, IBS, digestive disorders, and food allergies, as well as many other conditions. She takes a very practical approach to nutrition counseling involving realistic goal setting. All of her sessions are individualized and tailored to each client’s needs, abilities, and lifestyles.
